1953 – Tribute to Miss E. Holden

“She was one of God’s faithful stewards, truly loved for the work well done”. This tribute was paid to the late Miss Elizabeth Holden at the memorial service that followed her burial at the Cokelers Chapel Loxwood, on Thursday last week.
Miss Holden who was 84 died on February 15th. She was born at Warnham, and had lived in Loxwood for 64 years and at the time of her death was a director of Alyward & Smith and Co. Ltd. Her main interest in life was helping others and she was a very active member of the Dependents – known more commonly known as the Cokelers.
Mr. W Nash and Mr W. R. Leswell of Hove Conducted the funeral at which some 150 people were present and during the memorial service many tributes were paid to Miss Holden and “to the great work she had done in our midst.”
