Brewhurst Bridge, Brewhurst Lock


  • The picture of Brewhurst Bridge is a modern image. The top section of the bridge is modern brickwork, the bridge however is ancient.
  • Brewhurst Lane continues over the ancient Brewhurst Bridge and onwards to the Rudgwick Road.
  • Brewhurst Bridge is Grade II Listed and dates from 1672.
  • Brewhurst Lane Bridge had been recently renovated and carries Brewhurst Lane over the canal.
  • Brewhurst Lock was rebuilt in an unusual way to accommodate the road bridge which was constructed by The Onslow Arms.


Brewhurst Bridge:  Elizabeth I 1558 – 1603 (The Tudors).
Brewhurst Lock:  George III 1760 – 1820 (The Hanoverians).
